Why do some ‘polled’ bulls sometimes have small horns in the pictures?
This phenomenon is called ‘scurs’.
These are horn-like growths that, unlike true horns, are not connected to the animal’s skull by bone tissue and do not grow more than a few centimeters. They are due to a different gene (scur) than that involved in “polled”.
